Halibut HLBR72-50C Rod

Halibut HLBR72-50C Rod

$349.99

Halibut HLBR72-50C Rod There are a lot of big powerful rods you can use for halibut fishing. The problem is... they tire you out long before you tire the fish out. That's where our time on the water, talking with charter captains, guides and serious anglers in Alaska & British Columbia, along with fishing every chance we get, really pays off. Is power important? You bet! Is balance important? Yes! Is light weight important? You better believe it! Is it possible to have all three? IT IS NOW! We've always been known for light weight solutions to hard-core fishing situations, but this time we've taken it to the limit with this unbelievably light and powerful stand-up halibut rod. AFTCO Superlight roller stripper guides and tip-top with heavy-duty braced conventional guides team up with a powerful blank and handle system that is balanced to perfection. Now you can relax and enjoy catching those "barn doors" without all the strain and discomfort. You won't believe a rod this light can be so powerful.

California Halibut by Hermes, Othniel [Paperback]

California Halibut by Hermes, Othniel [Paperback]

$65.33

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The California halibut or California flounder, Paralichthys californicus, is a largetooth flounder native to the waters of the Pacific Coast of North America from the Quillayute River in Washington to Magdalena Bay in Baja California. It feeds near shore and is free swimming. It typically weighs 6 to 50 pounds (3 to 23 kg). It is much smaller than the larger and more northernranging Pacific halibut that can reach 300 pounds (140 kg).A top level predator that hunts by stealth, it is prized by fishermen as great table fare.Sport fishers typically use light fishing gear and live baits for this halibut. Baits include anchovies, sardine, squid, mackerel, and queenfish (brownbait). Some anglers use plastic lures and scampitype lead heads to fool a halibut into striking. Yakutat Block

Yakutat Block

$60.54

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Yakutat Block is a terrane in the process of accreting to the North American continent along the south central coast of Alaska. It has been displaced about 600 km northward since the Cenozoic along the Queen CharlotteFairweather fault system. The Yakutat Block is bounded on the northeast by the Fairweather Fault, and on the north by a system of thrust and possibly strikeslip faults in the Chugach Mountains and St. Elias Mountains. The Yakutat Block is bounded on its southwest side by an as yet undefined underwater geologic feature known as the Transition Zone. Global Positioning System (GPS) measurements indicate that the Yakutat block has a distinctive velocity relative to both the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate. Thus it appears to be a terrane in the process of accreting rather than a block already sutured on to the Pacific or North American plate. Longline Fishing

Longline Fishing

$82.85

Longline fishing is a commercial fishing technique. It uses a long line, called the main line, with baited hooks attached at intervals by means of branch lines called snoods. A snood is a short length of line, attached to the main line using a clip or swivel, with the hook at the other end. Longlines are classified mainly by where they are placed in the water column. This can be at the surface or at the bottom. Lines can also be set by means of an anchor, or left to drift. Hundreds or even thousands of baited hooks can hang from a single line. Longliners commonly target swordfish, tuna, halibut, sablefish and many other species.
